Default Fox HD question

So apparently FOX shows only the All Star game and the post season in HD for MLB. Do they show regular season NFL games in HD or are they cheap with that too?

That is more likley your cable provider rather than FOX. I have D* and MOST if not ALL of the NFL, MLB and NASCAR are in HD.

Watching Fox this afternoon, they have one hi def camera for closeups and pitches but their distance shots left a lot to be desired. Living in New Hampshire, I'm spoiled by NESN which has unbelievable coverage in HD.....Go Red Sox

I agree, the close ups looked good on Fox, but everything else looked terrible. NESN games look incredible. I think ESPN games look great too. I hope the homerun derby will be on ESPN.

I have Comcast in the Chicago area and Fox has some nerve selling themselves as HD..I have yet to watch a baseball game that looks good
I usually just end up watching it on the regular channel

The Fox Saturday MLB games are not HD. They are widescreen SD. The only MLB games that FOX does in HD are the All-Star game, and playoff games. Yes, Fox does 6 NFL games in HD each sunday. If Fox has 7 NFL games, the 7th game is usually SD widescreen. I don't think that happens too often, where they have 7 games on a Sunday. Hope this answers your questions/explains what you are seeing. Now a lot of the FSNs do MLB games in HD, and that is what you will see on DirecTV channels 95, 96, etc.

Yeah, no FOX weekend baseball in HD on any service - cable, satellite, fiber, OTA, microwave beams received via an aluminum foil helmet.

It's pretty stupid that they're so cheap with it. I think the excuse that they "didn't have enough trucks" or something... whatever. ESPN makes up for it with unbeatable HD camera angles on the Sunday night baseball game. In the NYC market, SNY has amazing HD coverage of games. YES does a decent job too, but they don't do as many fancy angles and sweeps as SNY.

Still, looking forward to 720p coverage of the All-Star game this week. Should be fun.

MLB is the least watched of all professional sports.Attendance jumped when Bud let McGwire and Sosa roid up to chase the hr record and ruined tha game and it will never get its juice back.

Default Give Fox a break

Don't get me wrong, I think EVERYTHING should be in HD. But if you compare networks, FOX is leading the way in HD content. If you put them down for not having every MLB game during the regular season, look at the "big 3":

ABC is still lacking in HD content for the NBA - except for marquee games and playoffs.

Most non major golf tournaments are still in SD.

CBS only does 2-4 NFL games in SD - while FOX does all of them in HD.

And at least if FOX doesn't do HD, they will do SD widescreen, something the others won't do - they will just do SD 4:3.

Before we come down on FOX, we should first look at CBS, ABC and NBC!

Is that who won the Derby?

My husband wanted me to record it so he could watch it later last night, and I went to bed right before David Ortiz batted in the first round.

Hockey and Basketball are less watched then baseball aren't they? I guess it depends where you are. Baseball is a pretty big thing here in NY.

I get FOX OTA here in Chicago 32-1 and Da Bears games looked great in HD. A bit better when they played a AFC team and it was on CBS HD. When the Sox play on FOX however, it does not appear as sharp as WGN or WCIU HD. Must be a baseball thing, but if they make it to the WS again, I hope it improves.

FOX only airs the All-Star Game, playoffs and World Series in HD for baseball. All other games are in wide screen SD. That's why it looks like crap. We should notice a big difference during the All-Star game tonight. And all the NFL games on FOX are in true HD. So yes, the Bears did look good last year on FOX.
