Default Possible to Rip MP3 from Scientific Atlanta 8300HD?

Recorded a concert on my Scientific Atlanta 8300HD. I'd like to transfer the audio to MP3. Is that possible? What would that involve?

Why not just capture off the analog output?

Easy, the 8300HD has both digital (optical/coax) and analog audio outputs. Depending on the configuration/location of your computer, route one of those to it. Record it just like you'd "record" any other audio signal coming in whatever port you can use. The only caveat I can think of is that the 8300 needs to stay hooked to the cable and obviously to the TV. You could also use a tape deck, it all depends on what equipment you have.

Get a "Y" cable with red and white RCA on one end and a headphone jack (8.5mm I think) on the other. Plug the RCA jacks to any audio out on the receiver and the headphone end to the line in on your computer and find any program that records from line-in (you could use wave recorder, but I assume you want more than 60 seconds).

You could download windows media encoder and use that and find something else the convert the wma to mp3 (iTunes does, but I don't know what your feelings are on that).

I think CDex records from line in, but I haven't gotten it to work.
