I have Cox Cable in Gainesville Florida. I have a Scientific Atlanta 8300HD box. In looking at the manual it says you can connect an additional SATA hard drive to the box. When I spoke to a tech at Cox they told me they don't support it.
Do you think it means you can't by a hard drive and connect it and it will work or do you think they have disabled the function. Thanks |

There are a lot of posts about this in the AVS forum, including specific instructions and information. The ability to add an external drive (and it must be a SATA2 interface) depends on what software, etc. There are some easy options but also some caveats.

I hooked up an esata drive to my explorer8300hd DVR and lost my buffer. When I remove the drive the buffer returns. Is this a feature ands is there a work around to it. My wife would rather be able to rewind a live show than have the extra storage space
