Default How to reset TWC remote?

I am a Time Warner Cable subscriber, and I have the 8300 HD DVR STB. In trying to program the TWC remote to control my new Panasonic TH-37PX60U I'm convinced I must have horked something up with the remote.

I've entered in the Panasonic control code, but only the volume up button works -- not the volume down. Additionally, the mute button doesn't work either. Lastly, I can no longer change to cable mode to use the guide or info buttons.

So, unless someone knows what is going on and can tell me how to get it all to work, please tell me how to reset the remote to the way it was originally.

Thanks,

nv

Could you look on the battery cover for your remote and see what model number of remote you have?

There are about 10 different codes for Panasonic TV's! Sometimes an incorrect code will only activate certain functions, but not all.
Here's the list of codes for Panasonic's:
034, 056, 080, 164, 206, 234, 236, 244, 190, 198

Thank you for the codes! I will try them after work this evening.

Just a little unsure though, I thought the codes were all 4 digits. Should I pad the codes you provided with a leading or trailing 0?

I will also check the model number of the remote after work this evening. For now, I can tell you that it is the long one with the PIP controls at the very bottom.

Thanks much!

When you got the SA8300HD from TWC they should have also given you the "Operating Instructions" for the remote control. If they didn't then you should call them, or go down to their office and pick one up.
It just so happens that ALL the codes for this remote are 3 digits, not 4. Without the operating instructions you'll knock yourself out trying to find the proper way of programming this remote.

Honestly, I'm not trying to be argumentative and I really appreciate all of your input and help, but...

I did receive a little pamphlet with the remote, and in the section for TV codes it listed the following codes for Panasonic: 0051, 0250, 0055. I have tried them all. I believe the 0250 code is the one where just the volume up works and nothing else. I don't believe the 0051 or 0055 codes work at all.

So, maybe you're right and they gave me the wrong pamphlet, and I need one with 3 digit codes? Any ideas?

Thanks,

nv

Then we have to determine the type of remote you're using.

As said on the Scientific-Atlanta website: "The model of your remote control is shown on the back. It will be either ER-1, AT2000, AT2300, AT 2400, AT8400 or AT8420. If you have an AT8400, there are two different versions B and D. These will be indicated by the last letter in the SA Part Number shown below the model number on the remote. The User Guides shown for these remotes will be AT8400-B and AT8400-D."

Didn't I state that early on in this thread? When you get home, identify the type of remote you have and then you can get your answers.

Here is a .pdf file of the remote you possibly have. It might help you get back to where you want to be:

Okay, it turns out the remote control is the "Universal Electronics Atlas DVR/PVR 5-Device Universal Remote Control". I found the user guide online on both the Time Warner web site and Universal Electronics's site:

http://www.timewarnercable.com/Media...sDVRManual.pdf
http://www.urcsupport.com/images/upl...wSet_setup.pdf

So, to summarize my problems:

1) I have entered in the Panasonic control codes as per the above mentioned user guides, but only the volume up button seems to work. No volume down and no mute either. Additionally, the Menu and Info buttons now trigger the Panasonic TV's menus whereas I want it to trigger the STB menus.

2) The CBL button blinks when I do channel up and down, but I can't seem to get it into CBL mode beyond that. To be clear, if I hit the CBL button, it does not blink, and therefore I can't hit the setup button subsequently to modify the CBL mode settings.

Questions:

1) I think the first thing I would like to do, is reset the remote control to solve problem 2. Any idea how to do this?

2) Once the remote control has been reset, I would like to find the proper code to use for my Panasonic 37" 60U plasma. Any idea on this?

Thank you all for your patience and good-natured willingness to help!
