Default Cablevision Digital IO Problems

I've had the service for 2 months now (having switched from DTV) and have had problems with "freezing" that lasts from a few seconds to almost an entire movie ot TV show, intermittently. Recently, I don't see it quite as often (I've been thru 3 different SA 8300 boxes), though it's still there.
I understand from one of the techs that it's a firmware problem that SA is "working on".

My main problem which has been consistent throughout is that there's a "crackling" in the audio which seems to favor certain channels (CBS, Fox, etc in NYC) - I'm in N. Jersey. It does not come thru on the OTA tuner and I never had it with DTV. Has anyone had this problem and/or does anyone know the solution?

I've had the SA8300HD/DVR box for almost 3 months now and I've experienced the same "freezing" problem that you mentioned. It's only happened to me maybe 2 or 3 times and it last about 3 seconds, which is still annoying.
As far as the audio "crackling" you described, I have my box connected via HDMI and I've never had that problem either through the tv speakers or the home theater speakers. I'm a novice though compared to other people on this site so maybe they can figure out why that's happening to you.

Default Hdmi

I originally tried to hook up via HDMI without success and was told by Cablevision that they "don't support" the HDMI 8300 feature ... anything special you did ??

When I called cablevision to set up the appt. to have the box delivered, I told the customer rep. that I wanted a box w/ HDMI and to make sure it was activated. The rep. gave me a thumbs up & when I received the box I just connected the HDMI...it worked perfectly. Maybe I should mention that I'm in Brooklyn, not N.J. but that shouldn't make a difference though.
