I recently purchased a Samsung LN-R268W TV and attempted to hook it up to my comcast high def box through the HDMI input. However, I can only hook it up broadcasting 720 and not using 1080. Yet the TV accepts 1080. Does anyone know if there is a setting I should change on the TV? Or is the cable box not correct?

Your TV accepts 1080i but is not native 1080p. That means when it gets a 1080i picture it can down convert it to your tv's native resolution but not show it as 1080i. You can check the tv info that came with it for your exact resolution info. That is why it won't accept that setting from the cable box. You'll have to use the 720p setting.
