Default Am Getting Pixelation On Some cable Channels

I was wondering why pixelation occurs on some of my cable channels.I recently had to cancel my cinemax HD because there was pixelation going on all the time on that channel.Cable tech and his supervisor just told me they did'nt know why I had that problem and my cable wireing was good...they said it could have to do with where I live....later this week I noticed pixelation on other channels.
Does anyone here know WHY this happens..what different reasons? I rarely have that problem with my other service..which is satelite.

Well I don't know what company they work for, but if a tech supervisor doesn't know how to troubleshoot pixelation, he should find another job. Call the supervisor back and ask him if there is somebody there that has a QAM analyzer that can come out and check your QAM signals. If it's just a few select channels that are pixelating, it could be digital ingress from locally broadcast HD/digital network stations. If it's an across the board problem with all digital and HD channels, odds are there is significant loss of data in the cable that should be easy to identify with a QAM analyzer. Hope that helps

IMO , if its verified the signal quality is good, the tech can do it or you can check yourself if you know how to use the diagnostics, and you are getting pixelization, tell them you want a new box. Their are some boxes out their that just have degraded tuners and or other internal problems , dont knock yourself out, try another box.

Default I Appreciate ALL Of Your Advice..THANKYOU :)

Thankyou all for your advice.I appreciate it.

The pixelation on my Cinemax HD happened with 3 different boxes cable tried to see why it did'nt work. So,it's definitely a problem from wherever the channel is being transmitted.....unless the boxes they've tried are all bad.they tried it with two DVRR HD boxes and my current HD Box.
The other thing is the pixelation is not on all the channels-only on a few.
I did have a problem with NBC HD..the picture would turn off and then on..but mostly have not had anymore issues with that channel.
Pixelation happens on the soapnet channel.
Cable admitted to me that they use USED boxes and refurbished boxes they try to test these boxes before distributing them to their customers..personally I don't think they really do test them.
I know I have a good tv...and again I don't have the pixelation problem with my satelite service...only with my cable tv.

Dunno your situation, but at this point you need to go into serious troubleshooting mode.

Remove ALL devices (cable modems, splitters, VCRs, etc) between your "in from the street" cable feed and your cable box. Any place where there was a device, insert a F-F barrel connector. If you still have the problem, it's definitely a cable or box issue. If it goes away, you need to resolve the problem yourself.
