I have Comcast and recently upgraded to a DVR. They gave me the Motorola DCH3200 HD/DVR box.
I am getting TERRIBLE HD picture quality with this box. Every HD channel. Just awful. HD channels are pixelated and look like standard definition. I set the box to 1080i but it's just awful. I went back to my Comcast service center to see if I could swap it but they only have the same box available. Anyone else have any troubles with this one? |

How do you have the DVR connected to the HDTV? HDMI or component? Prior to the 3200, was the PQ good? Was it connected the same way? Is the 3200 box the only thing that has changed?

Yup sounds like its on a coax connection instead of HDMI. Make sure that you have ONLY either HDMI or Component plugged in. I cant count how many times I have customers who have HDMI and Coax hooked up from box and are sitting on Ch.3 and think they've been watching HD. Also, HOW are you setting the box to 1080? Are you doing it through the display menu (Power Off, then Menu button) or are you using the format button on front of box? You need to make sure you have it set to 1080 in the DISPLAY MENU and 480i for the 4:3 Override (unless you dont like SD stretched).
Ive never had any 3200s with PQ issues, so Im leaning more towards connectivity issue than defect, BUT I have seen a single home go through 4 DVRs before they had one last longer than a week lol, granted that was the old DCT6400/12.
