High Speed Modem

I have TWC in TX and they have just started charging a monthly lease fee for the high speed modem of around $4. We called them to complain...to no avail. I did notice there is a current class action law suit in progress. However, my thought is to buy my own modem and turn theirs back in. They suggested I purchase either a Motorrola SBG6580 or a Motorrola SB6141. Questions: Are those the only ones that will work? Are there any other recommendations? Where's the best source? I don't know if it matters, but we also have our phone service though them.

I have Time Warner in Louisville, KY. I bought a D-Link cable modem and it works a lot better than the POS the cable company provided. I used to have to 'reset' the cable company's modem once/twice a week . . . I do not ever recall having to have to reset the D-Link.

Do a little research on cable modems-- you just need to be sure to call the cable company as soon as you install your own modem; you will need to provide them some id numbers from the device-- if you don't, you will find that your speed/bandwidth has suddenly been reduced GREATLY.
