I lived in apartment where I paid for comcast digital cable service with a CableCard installed in my HDTV.
I am now moving to an apartment where they only have Basic cable. Will my CableCard still receive digital cable? Thank you. |

Just make sure you call Comcast and let them know your new address. It should work fine.

The only answer is maybe...
Give it a try, if it works, bonus. If it doesn't, call them. |

Correct me if i'm wrong. Comcast scrambles their digital channels, as they can only be picked up and viewed by an activated HD set top box or a CableCard installed by a tech. In my situation: My old roommate still rents out the house from where I moved from, and is still paying for the comcast digital bill since he has his own tv+HD set top box. We got the CableCard installed for free on my HDTV. Since he is still paying for the equipment can it pick up digital channels in my new place with the CableCard. I will be paying for high speed internet from comcast + basic cable. (roommate only wants basic) (I'm moving into the new apartment this Thursday) I can't test it. Thanks for the help. |

Interesting question. It depends on how Comcast is authorizing its cards. It should continue to descramble as normal, since it is, in essence, still being paid. You should have no problems.

Your new apt, do they provide free basic to you, or the only thing you can hope to get is basic. Alot of apts offer a bulk level of service, but you can offer to upgrade your package to digital tv or phone + internet.
Also your new apartment is also serviced by the same cable provider as your old one? |

You will have to pay for digital programming to keep the cable card, and use it. GL
