Default Time Warner SA Explorer 8300 HD reboots

I'm trying to help my father in law with his cable box.

We live 3 miles apart and have the same provider and cable box.

Mine works well.

His reboots several times a day on it's own.

This is the third box in a row that does the exact same thing for him.

TWC has tested all the levels inside and outside the house.

He has a nice Monster power strip that indicates constant 120 clean volts.

We've removed the remote from the room in case it is malfunctioning.

The problems started when he got his current TV. He has a 40 inch Sony Bravia LCD (So do I).

We've taken his Sony Blue Ray theater box out of the system and the problem still occurs with only the cable box and TV connected by HDMI.

His theory is that the TV is sending commands to reboot the cable box even with the TV off. I think He's crazy.

I think he's gotten 3 bad boxes in a row. Even I think I'm crazy.

Any ideas?

Try connecting to the TV via component, does the box still reset?
