Default HD chanels fuzzy with comcast.

I have the new black comcast HD box. I just got a new HDTV so this is the first time I'm watching comcast's HD chanels. The picture on the HD chanels looks kind of fuzzy. Not as clear as I thought HD chanels would look. Is this normal for comcast or do I have a problem? It doesn't seem to be every HD Chanel either. I am still breaking in my tv some I have the settings low so this may be adding to the problem, but I don't think is causing it.

Is the HD box setup correctly? 16x9, 1080i, etc? How is the box connected to the TV?

Yea. It on 16:9. I have it set to "native" so the TV can change the screen size to fill the screen on the SD chanels. The HD chanels say 1080i when i press the info button on the tv and 480i on the sd chanels. The box to TV is HDMI. There are some contrast settings in the cable box menu but I didn't change them.

Hmmm.....well everything seems to be setup right. Are there specific HD channels that are fuzzy? If so, which ones? Some HD channels do not show truly HD content, they just show upconverted SD.

It's not all of them. It seems worse on some. The best picture I get is my local chanels in HD like when watching Chanel 7 news. That is real clear.

I work for Comcast in Jax Florida. Take the Native setting off and put it on 1080i. It seems to cause problems with some tvs like in between switching from SD to HD youll get a green screen and sometimes the screens just stays there and you would have to restart the box.

The Chanel changing is ok. It's a little slow but not that bad and in native my tv can change the pictue size to fill the screen on it's own so I'd like to leave it on native. Do you know of a reason when some of the comcast HD chanels whould look fuzzy and some look good. Do I need to have someone come test my signal ?

I would call Comcast and have them come and make it right. Had to do this for a year with my Comcast service and they never did get it right (too much compression). I canceled and went to satellite, what a great picture I get now...
