Question Comcast picture interference when on internet

Been a comcast customer since '92. I have all three services from Comcast (cable, internet, phone). During the past year and a handful of Comcast techs later i am still having the same issue. When im on any form of device that can access the internet the picture/sound breaks up but just until the page or video has loaded. This problem is intermittent and of course it always acts up when there's something good on tv. Of course i can still keep watching tv if i stop playing on the internet. The only effected channels i have noticed the problem was my locals FOX, ABC, CBS, and my NHL Center Ice channels. I have one HDTV and 2 other non-HDTV and all 3 is effected. I've had some cables replaced behind my house and the 4th tech did some work on the pole but before i call comcast i figured i would see if anyone has had this issue before. Thanx in advance

Since you posted that the problem lies mainly with the local channels, it could be a problem that you are getting some reflective interference, that causes your router to hiccup. What you could try is to enter your linksys setup and turn off the wireless and see if it makes a difference.

Ingress, somewhere you have a bad line or unterminated opening.

hello, there could be any number of issue's to look at.. I'd call the cable company and complain about the poor picture quality you are experiencing.. Just a few things that come to mind.. poor coaxial lines.. low grade coax splitters.. long coax runs..

i'd call comcast for the support.. you pay enough money for it! if you can reproduce the issue with comcast support at the house.. they should be able to figure it out..

Oblioman, it's acting up again. I turned of the wireless on my router but made no difference. Everytime comcast comes out it is not acting up and they can't find the problem

Could the interference come from an unterminated opening from a nearby house,,street level,,or in the OP's case,,from the cable access box outward? He's had numerous techs out and certainly they would have checked all the cable and caps in the house??

To the OP,,how long have you had your comcast phone???

Modems keep a diagnostic log, and are remotely montored. Think 911 services. No MSO wants to be sued because someone tried to call 911, but the signal level was crappy and the call didnt go out? If the diagnostic logs show levels of crappyness, your provider has to correct it.
Engress can leak into lines from a neighboring house. I have seen a tv that was ghosting a play back on a vcr tape a neighbor 2 floors down was watching. It was an Asian learning video and he was the only Asin in the blg. And it was his.

I would demand they locate it and correct it. what ever it is.

The problem has been there before i signed up with the phone service. But i got the phone service hooked up Oct. 22. The tech came out last night and everthing seemed to be fine cable wise. It wasn't acting up while the tech was here so he gave me a business card to a supervisor and told me to call anytime it is acting up and he will come out. So far its been pretty good so just waiting to know the answer to this bizarre problem. Thanx everyone for your input. I'll post the next time i know something. hopefully it will be a fix.
