Default Rolling left to right interference 'bar' when watching hi def on Comcast

Hi , I have a Sony KV32HS510 32 Hi Def Tv .

I have the Comcast Dual Tuner Hi Def DVR and I have it connected with a DVI cable .

When I watch programs in Hi Def I get this 'bar' of interference that scrolls from left to right .

The only other time I had interference like that was when I was connected to Xbox live and used a 50 ft Cat cable . I think it was a shielding issue because I've used higher quality ( and shorter ) ethernet cable since then and didnt get any interference .

I also have Comcasts Cable internet service so I surmised that it might be related .

I unplugged my ethernet cable...just to make sure and still got the interference.

Is it possible that my DVI cable is the problem ? Its very long and I suspect of low quality ( bought it from a guy on craigslist for 20 bucks )

Monster has a 3 meter cable for 99 bucks and its there best version .

Also , during very bright scenes in Hi Def the interference cant be seen at all .

Its only during dark scenes that you can make out the interference moving .

And the interference in non existant in 'regular' 4:3 programming . Full Screen .

Any information , advice or fixes would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks !

Default More info please

Without knowing which Comcast box you have it is hard to diagnose from afar. Have you tried an alternative hook-up, such as using Component outputs? It is conceivable that the DVI port is not fully supported by the Comcast STB? Also, if you do want to upgrade your DVI Cable save yourself some money, try BlueJean Cable for instance.

You could call Comcast and ask if the DVI Output is supported.

I have a Comcast Motorola DVR with Dual Feeds and it does not have the DVI enabled so I use Component

well, are you talking about the semi greenish "bar" that kinda rolls across the screen when using DVI? i used to get that but it no longer does that on this box, the other box i had did that, it was super annoying, altho i use component cables vs DVI, duno, most SD and analog channels look better VIA component than they do on DVI, so i just use component for all my viewing, analog, SD, HD..

EDIT: It was a DCT6200, i didnt have the DVR but i believe we had the same issue.
