Default Cablevison DVR to DVD Setup

I am trying to hook up a Scentific Atlantic HD-8300 DVR box to a Samsung DVD recorder. The goal is to copy off the DVR to DVD. I tried going from the DVR box out using RCA cables and then going into the in video on the DVD. I did select the right input on the dvd. I get a message tape copy protected on the screen when I hit the dvd record button . Yes I did format the DVD blanks. Thank you

I haven't done it in a while but if it's a movie, it's possible that cablevision is using some kind of macrovision type signal to prevent copying.

Some, maybe all, of the premium channels have been adding the copyright protection flag to their movies.

I called them and Cablevison does provide an option off the DVR menu where you can copy to VCR, according to them they do not support this option to DVD but to me a signal is a signal. I tried hooking up s video from out of the DVR to svideo in on DVD no luck. I have a DVD/VCR combo unit which maybe this is my issue. I wish I had just a plain old VCR to test with it. Oh well

I have Comcast cable. I used to copy to DVD on my computer. I gave up a long time ago. Everything I want is copy protected. I am sure you are running into copy protection issues.
