Default Time Warner Cable Box - How do I get a new Moxi?

I have the Motorola Time Warner HDDVR box and it, for lack of a better word, sucks.

I've read a few rumors about how you can get a Moxi Cable box (which I had in the past). Is there a new version? Can I request it? I live in the LA/Ventura County area of California. Anyone else have info on this?

Thanks,

-Brian

Actually I answered my own question with an email to Time Warner Cable:

"Thank you for contacting Time Warner Cable Email support. We are sorry for the inconvenience and we
are more than glad to assist you with your concern about your box.

We understand you want to change your box moving from Motorola to Moxi and do not be any problem
with that. Answering your question about if we have a new version of Moxi box this is the recent box
we have MOXI MR-1500T3 HD DVR. Unfortunately, I could not see what Moxi box you had becasue I could
not access your account."

Hopefully they are correct. The new Moxi seems great and since there "do not be any problem" swapping it out I am feeling better about the service. I Don't want to shell out the $799 for it, would rather rent. The Motorola is really slow, has a horrible non intuitive interface and records the same show over and over if you delete it (such as a Discovery show that airs multiple times the same week).

Default Moxi Question

Hi Brian,

Unfortunately, Time Warner Cable is not deploying Moxi units anymore. So, it looks like the information you received was bad. However, as mentioned above, you can purchase a Moxi HD DVR from our website, and through the end of the month, you can purchase a Moxi HD DVR for $39.95 a month with $0 down, and 0% interest—no application required, just a PayPal account. Along with that, you'll get several new features that aren't available on the rental version of Moxi including photos with Flickr, music by Rhapsody, at internet video from a variety of sources including Netflix, Amazon VOD, Hulu, and Youtube through the installation of PlayOn software which Moxi currently provides at no charge (a $39,99 value).

If you have any questions, please visit our site, give us a call, or chat with us. We're happy to help however we can!

After talking to the out sourced Russian lady, I was told in somewhat broken English that I can swap one out at the local cable office, but that they can't guarantee they will have any. Also I can't seem to call the local office to verify before I take it down there, as they don't have any listed phone number... Will attempt tomorrow.

They won't swap out a Moxi at the cable office, a Moxi must be installed by a service technician.

Also Time Warner generally doesn't have Moxi boxes, normally only in areas where Time Warner took over a different company which had used the Moxi like Adelphia cable will there be any Moxi boxes at all.

Good luck, I also love the Moxi.

Yes, you're right.

They don't give out the Moxi anymore, but at least they had the newest Motorala, the DCX3400. Crappy interface still, but much much faster response to remote etc. It will do. I think it has more space as well. If you're in the area with the old box, swap it out with the new version.
