Default Comcast HD - Slow Changing Channels

I recently moved to Comcast HD (Minneapolis) and the response time of changing between certain HD channels is pretty long...long enough that the receiver (STB connected to a/v receiver via HDMI) times out and a black screen appears for a couple seconds. I had a Comcast contract technician out and he said nothing could be done to improve the response time. Anybody else encountering this situation?

My DVR is the Cisco (SA) RNG200.

I have the same problem with their cheap equipment. I live in Vancovuer,WA. My 2 Tivo receivers dont have that problem. I think its just something that you have to live with if you use their boxes. My 2 boxes from Comcast are Motorola, they are very slow.

Try connecting your Comcast box to the TV with component cables for video (red, blue, green) which will give you the same high quality video and then either an optical audio (Toslink) or analog (red, white) for audio.

That will give you all the same quality and reduce the lag time between the Comcast box and the TV due to HDCP handshake.

I have the new comcast box, the black touch screen one. I know if I set the box to native, it take while between channel changes. If I set the box to 1080i, there is no lag. The channels switch almost instantly. Maybe yours is set to the native setting.

I have my Motorola DCX 3400 set to 1080i and I to have no lag between HD channels. Channels change very fast. Now if I go from a 480i to 1080i channel there is a lag.

How do you change that to Native, can someone help a guy out real quick?

EDIT - Sorry it took me a few times but I got mine set to native and it still is a 2 second delay or so between channels changing, anyone know the technical aspect behind this and why it does it?
