Red face Digital broadcasting

I have, probably a dumb question, but I'm going to ask it anyway! I thought that on June 12th, ALL channels were suppose to be broadcast digital. Well, when I call my cable provider and asked why many of the cable channels did not come in digital. I have an HD ready T.V. and can get the local channels in Hi Def and digital. The person on the other end of the phone told me they recieve all the channels in digital, but change them back to annalog before transmitting to their customers????? Am i missing something?? Thanks for your answers! I'm looking forward to learning something new!!!!

The June 12th analog shut off, ONLY affected Over-theAir broadcasts. Cable and satellite providers can still provide channels in analog.

You are correct that after June 12th all OTA channels do have to broadcast in digital. That means local channels you get from an antenna and only for non-low power broadcasters. This did not effect cable or satellite providers.

Default Thanks!

Thank you for the replys! There's such a big difference in digital and annalog! Guess I'll have to wait until they all go digital!
