Cablevision 4250HD Sound Issues after update

Good Afternoon All,

I have 2 4250HD boxes both are connected via component cabling.

One TV is a Vizio 37 and the other is a Magnavox 15"

The Magnavox only has component.

The Vizio also has a Pioneer Tivo Series 2 DVR-810h attached to it. Also I got tired of the syncing issues with HDMI so I switch to component on this set.

The issue is that every time Cablevision does an update to these boxes we have volume issues which we have come to live with.

When the update hits we go and raise the volume on the cable box to 100% and use the TV volume to control the volume.

Recently after an update we raise the volume on the box go back to the TV and raise the volume and the TV is quiet. The volume has to go very loud to hear it at a normal volume. Then after a while we have to lower the TV because the volume is normal again.

We also have 3 4200 boxes in the house and with those we also have to raise the volume after an update but they are not having the issue with the sound.

Any ideas.

I do not know your box. Noone else has responded. If you are using an analog audio out from the box, you will want to use compression in the box to equalize the levels. This also prevents commercials from being too loud. Try setup in the menus. Good luck.

I'm not sure about the update causing the issue. But I am currently experiencing some major issues with channels 702, 704 and 707 on select programming. I am only receiving the LFE from these channels rather than the full 5.1 or 2.0. The SD versions of these channels work fine. No other channel that I am aware of is affected. Once again, Cablevision does not disappoint with their stupidity. If it were one channel I would chock it up to a poor feed from that channel, but three?
