Default Motorola DCX3200...anyone?

Does anyone have a DCX3200 HD cable box from Motorola. It's a standard high-def box, no DVR.
I'm looking to see if there are any tweaks available for it. It's a Time Warner box. I swapped it out for the higher priced DVR box.
Thanks,

What do you mean by tweaks?

I have a probably similar box, the DCH3200 which I also was given me as a downgrade from DVR (and the DCH3416.)

To echo Deadhead, what kind of tweaks are you looking for?

Maybe 'tweak' is the wrong word. But I did notice that there is no power, channel or menu buttons on the front of the thing. Talk about basic boxes.

Since they are given out with a remote, no need for buttons. Whens the last time you pressed the buttons on the front of your stb?

ellmonte,
I double checked my box, the DCH3200 and it is quite different from yours...I have on-set buttons for all functions. So I checked your manual out and I see there are none and you have that strangely placed USB port on the front??
Mine is also twice the size of yours (always nice to say that!)

Funny that Motorola kept the same number for two so radically different boxes?

Default closed caption on dcx3200 and other settings

I have one of these, and there are several "tweaks" and settings that can be modified using a hidden menu.

To configure the DCX3200 settings on the User Settings menu screen:

Power off the DCX set-top box and then immediately press the menu key on the remote control. If your TV is on, a few seconds later the menu will list the settings that can be adjusted.

When selecting some of the menu choices, the lag between menus is a couple of seconds, and the tv screen will be black, but be patient and the menu will pop-up.

Some of the things you can tweak are:

what the tv type is 16:9, 4:3 letterbox, or 4:3 pan and scan,
what formats your tv supports,
video sharpness,
turn closed caption on and off when using hdmi or component outputs,

I was very happy to find out about this, because when my television was hooked up with the hdmi cable, i couldn't get the closed caption to work.

Those tricks not only work on the brand mew moto box, but most recent models. You can hit [cable] [power] [select] and go into the diagnostics. From there you can see usefull information, none is changeable.
