Default Panasonic BD60K White Dots (Static?) on Screen

I'm getting widely-spaced white dots on my 60" Mitsubishi DLP 1080P screen when pulling the video feed from the player. It's visible even as the disc loads and the screen is completely black. Still visible in dark areas of the scene when movie's playing. Anybody have any idea if this unit should be exchanged for a different one? I have never had speaker shielding problems before nor dirty electric coming from the outlet. It's connected via HDMI cable. Ever heard of the cable introducing such "interference"? Any ideas? Thanks.

It sounds like the "sparkle effect" from a bad HDMI cable.

Wow! That's exactly how I would describe it - sparkling. So this is a known defect of HDMI cables? So that others may be aware, the cable inquestion is a Conect It brand Golsd Series 6ft. HDMI cable.

I will try a different cable and see if that does the trick. Thanks so much for the diagnosis.

I suppose it's faulty shielding in the cable.
