Hooked up my BD55 today! very impressive..quite startled to see 2 firmware updates (1.5 and 1.6 via the ethernet) in one day! Very transparent..once it begins to download you can go off and do something else. It will download and install. Then player resumes in a 'no disk' mode. No disks drawers, opening, power resets, etc.
Also, neither update changed my original setup settings. So far it looks great..but have not run much through it yet. Loading times are decent. Very nice SD performance..but again have not spent much time checking out more disks. Analog audio setup is awkward. I don't know what happened to the thorough analog setups of yesterday.... If you read any reviews you know it only gives you adjustments in ms of time delay but a chart to convert those from actual distance..half/ass? Fortunately, my receiver does all the bass management, so I leave all speakers at large and sub on. (With speakers set small you will have to deal with a crossover of 100Hz if your receiver does not have BM.) That aside, other setups are easy. It gives you a full range of resolutions for both the HDMI and components output. Although, HDMI can be left on Auto. No drama, just a nice clean design and great performance. I understand part of the low profile is due to another level of LSI circuit integration Panasonic has recently developed. Needless to say it is very light... Transition to my Harmony remote was also seamless.

Glad you like it. I have not opened my BD35 yet, but it is nice to hear from someone I trust speaking about a similar product to what I bought.
