Thanks, I am glad that got cleared up.

I just looked at the box for the cable i bought it doesn't say 1.3 on it anywhere but it works just fine, so safe to assume it's the right cable? I can always order a new cable from monoprice and return this one, but if it works it works right?

Actually, I think all 1.3 cables are 1.3a....it's really the b & c that has nothing to do with capability of the cable. Moot point at best.

It's seems Monster really has their snow job in full swing. I am kind of surprised a stronger competitor has not come out by now putting down their rhetoric with some real education and selling more competitively priced cables.

I thought about doing that and even signed up for Live.com, but when I followed the instructions and did the search it just had discounts up to only 7%. I didn't want to pay the higher price to only get 7% back.

Am I doing something wrong?

So if that 30% flag is there, I will get that much as a cash back?

My skeptical eye wonders HOW on earth MS can do this kind of a thing just to get people to use their search engine.

I also will now have to return TWO other BD players including one I have not even picked up yet.

Do you own the S550 and how does it compare as I have not even checked out this player yet.

I appreciate the help with this though, so thank you very much.

So Bestbuy listed this player online for $229.99..

The OP paid $199.99. I just picked mine up and the price was $214.99 (the receipt lists a $15 discount off of the $229.99 price)

I wouldn't have expected them to sell all over the place for 12/01 without haggling unless Best Buy has a policy that they must sell the same item to everyone at each store for the same price on that day and I would assume that someone else walked in and got their blu-ray player for 214.99 using a competetor ad and the same thing probably happened to the OP....

Strange way of doing business, but I saved an extra $15...

My receipt lists a "competitor price match" so someone must have came in the store that day and showed them an ad or called another store or something.

Yea, but is there a way you can tell the cable is actually 1.3? Is it written on the cable itself? I was under the assumption that 1.3 can only carry the HD audio codecs (DTS-MA, etc.)?

Otis!! Good to see ya!

I paid $300 for my BD30 back in March, I think it was. .just picked up a BD35 for $227. I am sure that I could have waited and the prices would come on down.
