Why wait possibly months to get it resolved considering Samsung's past record of taking this long to try to solve issues with some players. The heat issue alone would have me returning the 1500 player myself. I doubt that could be resolved with firmware, but I agree that Samsung should be called, and if they state this is a new problem return it as they will not likely resolve it anytime soon give their past record with fixes.
I do admit the unit gets some what hot but i used some rubber sliders from home depot and raised it up about an inch and it's cooler. I do worry that may be one of the causes but it seems unlikely since someone on AVS said they have the same problem in the same place as mine. Which does make me concerned about updates. But I love the player so I'll have to take some time to think about. I have till the middle of December.

BLU_HD_DEFENDER at High Def Digest has two BD-P1500's and the "Meet the Robinsons" disc and indicates it plays fine for him. I asked him in an open thread there.

That's interesting. So does it make a disc problem or a player. Considering I've replaced the disc already wouldn't that make it a player problem? I'm kind of hesitant about taking the player back because I don't want bigger problems if it is the player. It really shouldn't be this way at all. Or it could be the disc considering I got it from the same place, they could just have bad discs.

Since you have intermittent problems not exactly the same with the two discs you have tried, it sure appears to me that it is your player. It is intermittent if I understand you correctly and you won't get exactly the same results playing the same disc twice, but will get similar problems during the last 20 minutes or so. We now have two players that have the problem and two players that don't have the problem. If you must have flawless playback of all discs to be happy, you could return the player for exchange. It might be that Samsung fixes it with firmware, but I sure have no assurance to offer based on my experience with Samsung.

Thanks for helping me out Chris I really appreciate it. So I did some more testing and this is what I have found. It seems to only skip the at the same place on both discs, I haven''t sent the first one back yet. The second thig is is that it sounds like it is trying to load something when it does skip. I can hear the player working as if it's trying to load something when it skips. The second thing is the skip actually is only happening when I have it on 5.1 Uncompressed audio. When I try 5.1 Dolby I can hear the Player working at the same area as the Uncompressed audio but no actual skip. i can hrear it trying to load something using both audio sources the only difference is no skip with the Dolby Digital. So I'm not sure what the next step is. Should I try to replce it and see if that fixes it or does it sound like a firmware problem. Is there anyway that the guy that you asked before could let me know if this is occuring when using Uncompressed audio. I'm sure that is probably what he is using though. I just don't want to get more preoblems with a second player if you know what I mean . Thanks.

That certainly pins it down a lot more. If you can give me a precise time, I will play that segment here and see if I can find anything. I don't recall whether I selected lossless audio when I tested and I know I didn't when I watched it the first time since I didn't even have the capability to process it.

As far as what to do, that is entirely up to you. If all other discs play properly and you haven't identified serious heat related issues, your problems may not justify a return.

It seems if you don't play at leat a minute or two before hand it may or may not do it. it happens between 1:12 and 1:14 but if you start at Chapter 17 and play it up to 1:15 is when it should happen. It also seems to happen in Chapter 17 or 18 can't remember which at 1:22 - 1:23 right when Lewis starts walking away from the time machine. Those are the ones that happen almost every time. Other areas may or may not do it in spurts. As for heat related issues it gets pretty hot. Not burning my hand hot but rather warm after playing certain discs. As for issues caused by it if there are any what are they? Thanks for checking this out for me.

Because I am too lazy to read through hundreds of threads I will ask this here. Is it inherent in BD players not to allow you to go straight to the menu? I have to watch or fast forword through all the previews. Am I missing how to do it or is that just the way it is?

This has nothing to do with the player and everything to do with the studio. Some studios, like Disney, bombard you with previews, and others, like Warner, will go straight to the movie.

Purchased a Samsung 1500 via the Amazon deal on Friday (but the 1500 for $214 get a copy of The Ultimate Matrix for free). I am selling The Matrix to a coworker making the cost of my player $140. Even though this is just going to be a secondary player for the upstairs LCD used by the kids, I am going to put the player through it's paces in my media area for a week or so. Will report back.

I get that they want you to see the previews but are you telling me that the software will not allow going to the menu when you push the menu button? Also it happens on all of the discs I have watched so far Blu Ray and std.

If it is happening with DVD too, something sounds off. When the movie starts and you press the menu button does it go to the main menu?

Actually I have tried them all but the disc menu is the one I would assume I should use. I just get the round symbol denoting that it will not work.

Default Here Friday ...gone Sunday

The price on the 1500 was so good out of Amazon, I purchased without reading a review (mistake). The picture was good and sound very good. Problem: The player suffered intermittent video loss when playing Chicken Little, Sleeping Beauty, and other Disney standard DVDs. Called Samsung and did all things as instructed, including resetting. Then went to on-line help and did the firmware update. Same problem (not to mention needing to reset again as I lost all audio after the update). So I contacted Amazon for a refund and when boxing, I noticed the unit was surprisingly hot. I guess if I just wanted to play blu-ray disks and some others, this unit would be okay (I did not find one non-Disney DVD that did not work) but I want a unit that plays all my DVDs...oh, well, I guess the Blu-Ray implementation is back on haitus.
