I have had the new Samsung 1500 for about three months, and I love it. It is faster than the Sony at the same price. It looks great, and does a great job with non Blue-Ray DVD's. Also, I received a 12% discount from BestBuy.

I have updated my BD-P1500 firmware twice already. Once by ethernet/internet and today with USB Flash Drive.

It's been a while since I've posted so I thought I would. As for a black Friday price. I saw on AVS at 3:30 am Monday morning that Radioshack had the 1500 for $199. I checked it out and sure enough it was. I printed the add out went to Walmart and they price matched it. So I just got a new Bluray player for $199. Funny thing is that my wife said a few hours ealier that she didn't want to spend more then $200-$250 on a player since we just droped 2 grand on the Samung LN46A650. So far I like it. But I have been reading about issues playing Ironman which hasn't been released yet. But it seems all players except the PS3 are having problems. I preordered it so I hope there is a frimware fix pretty quick.

A firmware fix is required from Samsung is probably the most common complaint about Blu-ray players at the various forums. I waited months for my BD-P1200 to get needed firmware updates to play some recent releases. The updates did finally come. I believe the "Iron Man" problem was determined to be disc related since even some Sony and Panasonic players couldn't play it properly and it has been recalled and the issue solved, it wasn't even released yet but apparently some online sellers shipped it early and some players choked on it. Based on what I read at High Def Digest more players than the PS3 could play it, but our Samsung players can not.
