Default BD player question.

I was at the Frys electronics today and saw Panasonic BD30K player for $369. I wanted to pick one up but I wanted to double check something before I did. I need to know in detail the differences between profile 1.1 player and 2.0 BD-Live player. I currently have HD-DVD player. Since I bought it I have never connected to the internet. I know it is good to have that function for the future but so far I have not took a advantage of it. I used to have Sony S300 player but returned it due to the fact that it had a very slow startup time and it didn't play Liars Dice on Pirates of the Caribbean 2. Also I do enjoy PiP function in my HD-DVD player and suspect that I will enjoy it on BD player as well. So there is my situation. Based on that info, should I get Panasonic BD30 player or do you think I should wait for the BD-Live(2.0) player? That Panasonic BD50 player sounds good too but based on what I told you so far would it be a waste to wait for that one? Thanks in advance for any advice you guys can give me.

I think you should wait for the bd live 2.0 player. From what I've been reading on these threads, blu-ray discs are mostly profile 1.1 but newer discs are profile 2.0

Profile 1.1 is the PIP feature and profile 2.0 is web enabled features similar to hd dvd.

still I would wait a few months to see if the other studios siding with hd officially go to blu-ray.

Its very temping to buy one of these low cost BR players but I think it would be worth it to buy a PS3 or hold out for a 2.0 stand alone player. You don't want to buy something that will be obsolete in a year because there are new BR discs that have all these cool new features for profile 2.0 and you can't upgrade to profile 2.

Buying a PS3 is probably the safest bet at this point for BR.
