Default Blu Ray disc error

Has anyone ever got a "copyright c003" error when loading a disc? I have a Panasonic DMP-BD10AK and I was trying to watch Reign of Fire. It is a Netflix rental and there a not so nice scratches neard the edge of the disc. I hope that is all it is.

This is a new one to me. Look closely and see if it is a scratch or a crack. I got a BD disc that had about a 1/4 inch crack on the outside edge, but mine wouldn't load at all either. I do not remember the error code but I probably would have remembered if it had the word "copyright" in it.

Sorry I couldn't help.

Hey there.

I'll start by saying I in no way am an authority on such things.

That being said, since it refer's to "copyright", It is likely the well documented issue sony has had with their digital rights management (ARccOS) which causes some players to "glitch".

Sony just settled a similar lawsuit stemming from their tainted CD's - which exposed PC's to security hazards.

ARccOS is a secondary layer of DRM (digital rights management)applied to some discs (about 20 to date). It deliberately introduces "phoney data" to confuse DVD/Blu-ray-ripping PC applications.

The problem is that it also trips up legitimate playback in some players.

The titles I know of for fact are, Open Season, Rocky Balboa, Stranger Than Fiction, The Holiday and Casino Royale.

I know there are others, but do not have a list of those, possibly Reign of Fire is one ? You can call this number Sony has provided, 1-800-860-2878. They should know.

Good Luck...bummer dude, I liked that film, LoL !

Peace

I didn't know that Sony was doing that on the BD titles. Thanks for the info.

My wife bought Rocky Balboa on BD but we didn't have any trouble playing it. Now I have to go check that out since we only watched it once.

Red face

Oh my God !! I think you are right PFC5 ! How do I take that back, dammit. I re-read the article in the Aug. '07 HTM, after seeing your post, and it doesn't actually say anything about formats other than DVD.

I'll try and redirect people from that post I guess. Unless a moderator can delete it ?

I am so sorry everyone, I feel like such a dumb ass ! LoL !

I'll submit a post ahead of it maybe ? Any suggestion's ?

Thanks for calling me on that one PFC5. I really don't intend to put BS on here.

Peace

I think you already DID let people know just by this post above me. Don't sweat it. We all can make a mistake, and if someone has an issue that you corrected yourself 2 posts later well...... pluck them.

Haven't seen it. Is it a parody, or suppose to be on the up & up, but come across funny ?

That opinion is mutual my friend. Thank you.

I always value your honesty & integrity on here. It shows in your track record, as others have a great opinion of you as well. (Except maybe Pistol Pete, ha ha !)

Everyone benefits from strong examples such as you btw, we could use more of your character, IMO.

Peace
