Default LG BD-790 Blu Ray player

If you got to www.dvdboxoffice.com You will find a pre order under Blu Ray for the LG BD-790 player available 6-26-06.

If your waiting for a universal player from LG or anyone else, it may never happen, and if it does, it won't be for another year to 18 months.

Like I said all along, LG would still make a BD player, I just did not expect it until fall.

The reason people were saying that LG pulled the release of their BR player is because THEY SAID IT THEMSELVES! There is absolutely NOTHING that i can find on the LG site that says they will be releasing this before the fall, but in honesty, their site is horrible anyway so it could be true.

I tried to offer suggestions to the webmaster (phone & email) directly when I had issues finding firmware updates for my DVD burner they make, but they have a lot of inside politics keeping them from having a good site.

I think the best solution to the format war would be a universal player, so I hope it comes before the end of the year. If it does not, then studios that do not support BOTH formats will just lose out on money and market share. We all know that they make more money on DVD sales than in the theaters so it is their own throats that will be cut if they don't support BOTH formats.

A universal player will let the "better" format win eventually, so it would be a good thing for this to happen IMO.

That's funny! I feel the same way and sent them a e mail also telling them their web site SUCK'S. I have an LG plasma (I will never buy an LG product again. The motion artifacts-the bobbing, etc.) I have been waiting 2 months for an answer. "We are checking with Korea to see what kind of a chip is in it". LG sucks.

My friend has a LG plasma also. He has gone into the SM to make major adjustments himself and is now "semi-satisfied" with it. That means he wished he never bought it, but has it looking as good as he can.

I kind of annoyed him when he did changes to the SM and said he finally has it looking good, but when I looked at it I said things like "Did you notice that that bright red now has an orange tint to it" he really loved me. NOT! :joker:

He is a tweaker so he has done a lot with his, but when he comes down to see my DLP HDTV he gets upset again. All I know is that I bought DVE and I am about to charge him a extended rental fee since I never get you use it myself. :joker:

Apparently only one format wants a universal....but there not getting permission from Sony.

So apparently....and nothing to do with this listed player...they aren't "considering" making a Universal any more.
The same thing happened to Samsung when they said they would absolutely make one...that would have been here about now....and when they were stopped...no press release or anything about it.
I wanted this Universal because...the quicker it was out, the quicker we could get one from Onkyo, Denon ect.
If LG had made a universal, I bet it would have cost 1299.00-1499.00 if it had been on the market by fall.

Eventually there will probably be one ...but not anytime soon including this fall,or this year.

I did notice this is a different model number from the original....planned LG BD player.
When we see one at a second site...it will be more convincing...but a few people at AVS have called...and they said June...so who knows.

LG does...last I checked...make the king of ota tuners...but I never tried one of there players.

I beleive the Xbox 360 uses an LG drive.
