Just found out, the answer is no.
Cons: Not able to play videos, music and photos from networked PC. Is there a player that would allow me to play media from my PC?

The new Sammy can do it...........I think the model is the Samsung C6500...........runs for about 249$ at best buy. But you can get it for 224.00 via Amazon.com

Their site says "Share music, videos and photos between compatible devices using your DLNA® home network.4" , But it also mentions that that will be available via firmware update July 2010. From what I read Windows media 11.0 supports with a few issues but Windows media 12 fully supports it. I am wondering the same as I am in the market for one that does this also.

For that much money it would be better to get a PS3 instead. Samsung tend to be horrible with the required firmware updates for changes to DRM/BD-Java when the studios change them on new releases after the 1 year warranty is up.

I do recall noticing my LG BD390 recognized my laptop when I searched for media servers but I didn't bother to try and access files from it. I was too busy trying to get PlayOn working to access programs from the internet using various streaming services. At my rate of getting anything wireless network related working properly, I should have a handle on that in about 6 months and then I will try to access files from my PC. I might read about DLNA and how to have everything communicating properly if nobody offers me a step by step set up procedure. When you figure it out, let us know, you are bound to get it quicker than I will. Chris |
