My take: (the breakdown)

After watching the Miracle at St. Anna debacle this past Sunday I was skeptical of Spike Lee's Inside Man. Fortunately, it was much better and I am glad of that because I could have taken another racial issue fest. Anyway, the story focuses on Dalton Russell (Clive Owen) and his bank robbery scheme that he has planned to the nth degree. Det. Frazier (Denzel Washington) plays the man trying to keep Dalton from killing any hostages. However, Frazier begins to realize that Dalton may be up to more than just grabbing money and he begins to piece together a larger puzzle. To be honest this movie is somewhat predictable and it safe to recommend it as a rental, but I would not blind buy this one.

This transfer is what I have come to expect from Blu-ray releases. The print is clean, the colors are vibrant, and the flesh tones are accurate. Grain is minimal and it is extremely consistent. There are just a couple scenes with unresolved blacks, but there's hardly any darker scenes so this is a minor nitpick. Kudos to Universal for this high quality transfer.

The DTS-HD Master Audio track is top notch from Universal. Dialogue is clear and understandable from start to finish. Your sub will get a small amount of work during some music during the opening and ending credits and during the few action scenes. Surrounds are used regularly, but I felt they could have been give some more attention. Also, the score tends to get a little overbearing during the first half of the movie, but it's not a big deal.

We are given a decent supplemental package for this Blu-ray release. We get a commentary with Spike Lee (nothing special with this guy), a making of feature, 20 minutes of deleted scenes, and a interesting feature exploring directors' use of a favorite actor (Washington for Spike Lee).

Movie: 6.5/10
VQ: 9.5/10
AQ: 9/10
Supplements: 6/10
Final word: Worth a rental at best

As always thanks for reading folks.
