Default Worst possible Blu-Ray's...

I was thinking this weekend about the absolute worst possible Blu-Ray...what would it be? What movie was so bad that it would the biggest waste of time and money to buy.

post your answers.

Mine was:

Beverly Hills Ninja - Chris Farley at his worst. I love him, but this movie was just plain BAD. And...I'm not sure 1080p would help his look any.

The worst movie I have ever seen was Dr. T and the Women so yeah that would be a waste of a BD release. I just watched Vacancy on Sunday and thought that was a waste as well as it was 90 minutes of stupidity.

Are we talking strictly FILMS that sucked, and can't stomach watching on Blu, or TRANSFERS that were bad?

For TRANSFERS, my vote goes to 88 Minutes...one of the worst I have seen; also, Babel comes close.

Did you really not like Vacancy Goofnut. We have got very different tastes, i enjoyed it and thought it was a very good horror! Horses for courses i guess!

I have to say for me Oceans 13 looked very poor in HD and i also thought the Escape from new york transfer on BD is the worst i have ever seen, no difference whatsoever to an upscaled DVD!

I felt that Batman Begins was a very poor BD transfer despite the box office success it enjoyed. I love the movie but was very disappointed at the quality of the picture.

Wow...good to know, Sigill, as this is one of my favorite films -- I have the 2-disc Collectors Edition DVD from MGM, and while better than the single disc stripped down original version, the transfer is still murky and headache inducing upscaled to 1080p...

I am getting ready to put up a review of Superman: The Movie, which falls into this category of poor transfer; I'm getting really tired of wanting to upgrade some DVD versions of favorite films to Blu when most of them don't look all that good in HD.

Agreed. The DVD was much worse, but the Blu-ray was a bit disapointing given the status of the film.

I actually thought Batman begins looked pretty good on HD DVD. Maybe they screwed up the BD version, but I thought it looked good on HD DVD and much better than the SD DVD version I have to compare it with. I have not watched it for a long time, but i think many of the newer HD releases will look better than the earlier ones just because they have had more time to work with the new video codecs and have better tools now. The same happened with SD DVD too. It is part of the progress that is normal I think.

Anything from PBS? I have a PBS BD "Over California". Many of the clips were so bad I actually thought it was snowing.

I never saw the HD DVD but heard it was pretty good; nevertheless, Batman Begins doesn't by any means look terrible on Blu, just kind of "soft" and "lifeless" in certain parts, as if this wasn't really high definition -- something I have been sensing on many titles, new or old.

Agreed. I guess some studios take more time on transfers than others. Journey to The Center of The Earth was a poor transfer IMO. Actually here is a list of BD's I own that I think are pretty poor in PQ (list is in no apparent order):

Nick and Norahs Infinite Playlist
Zack and Miri
Saw 5
Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy
the devils rejects

I hear ya, Pioneer...

I'm not really certain if it's that the studios aren't "taking more care" or "time" with the transfers, of if the actual MATERIAL is just supposed to look like it does, and NOT leap off the screen; I know for a fact that while it's highly criticized, Bryan Singer INTENDED Superman Returns to look the way it does with that soft, fuzzy glow...even shot with HD cameras, the film looks awful on every media it arrived on -- DVD, HD DVD and Blu-ray.
