Talking ****BOONDOCK SAINTS****review

Fox Home Entertainment

AVC/dts-MA

2.4:1

This is one of my favorite movies. The plot consists of two blue collar Irish guys doing some vigilante justice. It's very stylish and unique in it's story and character development. Great flick.

Having owned both of the DVD versions, I can say that the Blu-Ray is a BIG step up in PQ. Everything seems more solid and stable. Usual BD good stuff. Blacker blacks, richer colors, it's all been said before about other good transfers.

Bottom Line, the video on this does not disappoint.

The Audio is what really shocked me. I thought the DDEX 5.1 on the THX DVD was pretty good. Well, ignorance was bliss. The dts-MA track on the disc really opens up all the audio in this film. A giant leap forward in quality.

All special features from the THX DVD are included (I think, I didn't actually check).

If you're a fan of this movie, buying this is a no brainer. It's $25 at Blockbuster and even less on Amazon.

If you've never seen Boondock Saints, what the hell are you waiting for? At least give it a rent. For god's sake I had a Saints avatar for over a year here!

I got no money and no job so I won't be getting this right away, but once I get money I can spend with out feeling guilty I will definitely buy this. I already pre-ordered Akira when I probably shouldn't have . I can't wait to get this movie on Blu though. Such a great movie. Thanks for the review.

Way exciting to have it available on Blu..

Thanks for the heads up that it was no disappointment!

(and the liquid swords avatar is almost as great as the boondock saints one )

I am going to order this on Amazon right now, I've always liked this movie. A friend gave me a gift cert for Christmas, I finally know what to use it on.

Thanks for the review.

FWIW, the bitrate on this disc is through the roof. I can't recall seeing one this high.

It didn't dip below 37mpbs on the PS3 bitrate meter. ( I know it's not a perfect science, but it HAS been proven to provide a very close ballpark figure).

I can't pull the true average bitrate right now because my HTPC is down (shitty mobo), when I get it fixed I'll post the true average.

I just finished watching it for the first time and I do intend to buy it. My rating as listed in my signature was 8/10. Great flick.

This may be my first double dip if I can find it cheap. I LIKE BS(no pun intended).

I'll pick this up eventually for Willem Dafoe. It must drop below 15.00 though, as I am not that big a fan of it.
