Thanks A Bunch Sigill!

Do yourself a favor and put aside what you don't like about Downey and just sit this one out -- he's actually VERY good in the role as the first cold, heartless Tony Stark and then the heroic, bent-on-revenge Iron Man...

Enjoy and thanks so much for the compliment!

Probably one of the best comic book movies Ive seen in a while excluding THE DARK KNIGHT.The picture quality is really good. The sound is excellent.I have 3 buttkickers and 2 subwoofers connected to my receiver. This movie kicks butt. When Iron man walks I can definetly fill it in my seat.AWESOME MOVIE

I too don't care very much for Downey but he did do an exceptional job in this movie. Definitely a keeper to be watched over and over again. I also liked the cameo appearance of Stan Lee playing the role of Hugh Heffner.

Even if you don't like Downey jr. he fits the character perfectly.
Did you know that in the comics Ironman actually has a drinking problem.
I never thought that much of Gwyneth Paltrow before but I think she looked hot in this movie

Yes -- interesting point...and ironic as Downey-the-Drunk played him, eh?

Totally agreed...she's pretty much ho-hum plain Jane in the past but here...wow...in those black dresses and pumps in this film...daaaaaaaaaaaamn.....I'd tap dat....

The reason that the final scene played out that way was to show how smart Stark is. He was overmatched and out of power, so he had to use his brain to outsmart Stane. Stark is always in control, always aware of his environment, always thinking. That's what the final battle is about. I liked it.
Another trivia note- The music that is played at the awards banquet is actually the Ironman theme music from the 60's Saturday morning cartoon series. Same with the ring tone when Stark calls Rhodes from the suit. BTW- Rhodes never became a character in the comics for decades.

Seems like it was the only thing Favreau could do...

Okay; indeed, I know that the Stark character is simply super-smart and it's obvious in just about every frame Favreau shoots featuring Downey and based on the comic origins...as with most other comic film adaptations, it's a bit heartbreaking to see the "hero" kind of outpowered and outmatched by an out-of-control villain (we see this in almost everything -- Spider Man with Green Goblin, Daredevil with Kingpin...) but I thought Iron Man would have been a bit stronger with his suit weaponry to fight Stain and Iron Monger...it's always hard to watch the hero take the ass whipping, but as Spider Man and Daredevil did, they always end up getting the strength to overpower the villain at the end -- I expected a bit more out of just Stark screaming at Potts to blow the reactor chamber in order to defeat Stain; it was like that was the only thing he could do -- in retrospect, though, Stain DID enhance the suit to be ridiculously bigger and stronger than Stark's ever could be. That's not really the problem I had with the end sequence though -- it was the fight clip between them on the highway; it just seemed a bit, as I said, "Transformers"-like and took me out of the seriousness (to a degree) of the film in scenes that came before it.

Very interesting...

OK, officially, about 16 years, almost decades.....
It seemed like in the scene where Rhodes sees the Mark 2 , that the line was changed from the theater version. The wife and I could've both swore that he says "I've got to get me one of these". On the DVD he says something like "next time", which, of course, is true.
The only thing that really took me out of the movie was the obvious Audi product placements were jarring. Everybody in Marvel land drive German cars?

Another trivia note- Nick Fury, head of SHIELD is a white guy in the regular Marvel universe. The alternate "Ultimates" universe had Fury as a black man and the artist used Samuel L. Jackson as inspiration for drawing the character. The "Ultimate" Hulk is an off the charts freaking bad ass.

Yes, on the Blu-ray he says "Next time son..." or "Next time man..." but I think you're right -- in the THEATER, I think he DOES say "I've got to get me one of these..." like Will Smith says in Independence Day or Comm. Gordon says in Batman Begins...

Does Rhodes actually don the Mark 2 suit in the comics?? What does he do with it in the comics?

Yes -- I forgot to mention that in the review...there are a ton of Audi placement shots that got annoying. Sony does the same thing with their films -- ever see how many Sony products are in Casino Royale or Resident Evil: Extinction?

So, the Avengers, if made into a film, will be who...Iron Man, Hulk...? Who else? Do you think this project will go through? Will Captain America be part of it?
