Default Fight Club

The Movie: For a 10 year old movie, its moral/premis still holds sway. I recently discussed its values with a friend. He best described it as a movie for a small niche with a strong hold on a certain generation. That generation is those who were born before the internet and had to learn it as they grew up. ... he described it better than i ever can.

A nameless man (Ed Norton) is bored with his cubicle life, and starts a 'fight club' to get over it. His supporting cast is talented and deep (Brad Pitt, Meatloaf, & Hellena Carter) who all embody the roles they play. As a group, they rebel against the swing the late 90s/early 2000s take. With acts of terrorism & personal deception, they pave their own road through the world. 10/10

The Video: This certainly is an odd transfer. Grain is a fair bit heavy throughout the film, but never dominates what you see. Oddly, it is more prominent in the lighter scenes than the darker ones. The dark scenes, which are often, look flawless. For a 10 year old flick, you cant ask for more. This movie was the first I noticed as being 'digital' in its overall look, but this is the first time I'v seen it look like a film transfer. +1 for that alone. There is a large amount of banding (close black and white lines 'waving'). That is the only negative I could find. 9/10

The audio: i watched this on my better TV, but it has no surround sound. Through the TV speakers i can find no problem. Voices crisp and soundtrack was booty shaking. ~ 8/10... Don't take my word on this.

The extras: just as many as the special edition DVD. some in 1080; some not. There are repeats and new ones. One in particular seemed cool. You can mess with audio levels on 2 scenes. IT was fun for a few min, but not nothing outstanding....8/10.

Overall: Fans of any level should buy this, Its worth it. If not, at least rent it. It is a film that expresses the feelings of the late 80s early 90s generation better than any other. 9/10

I hope this one makes up for my less than par review of GI JOE. I was a little drunk when i posted that one.

I love the movie, but you can't deny the irony of this kind of movie being re-released on Blu-Ray..
