Title: Role Models BD-50 Dual-Layer Disc Video: 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 Audio: 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio Aspect Ratio: 1:85:1 Subtitles: English, Spanish, and French Run time: 99 minutes Studio: Universal Studios Home Entertainment Rating: Unrated Region Coding: Region Free Player used for review: Playstation 3 Cast/Crew Info: Seann William Scott as Wheeler Paul Rudd as Danny Donahue Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Augie Farks Bobb'e J. Thompson as Ronnie Shields Elizabeth Banks as Beth Jane Lynch as Gayle Sweeny Directed by David Wain My take: (the breakdown) I for one have always been a fan of most crude humor comedies I have to admit that I like Role Models a lot more than I thought I would. The story follows that of Danny and Wheeler as they go to schools to promote an energy drink called Minotaur. When Danny realizes he's been working for Minotaur for 10 years and that his life is going nowhere he decides to try and marry his girlfriend of seven years on a whim and of course she turns him down and then dumps him. He becomes so disgusted that he runs their Minotaur truck into a statue on a school's property. Their sentence from the local judge is either 30 days of jail or 150 hours of community service in 30 days for a organization called Sturdy Wings, which is like Boys and Girls Club. Anyway, both Danny and Wheeler end up bonding to their assigned kids and it ends up being a real eye opening experience for both of them. Filled with plenty of gut wrenching humor I say this is worth at least a rental and fans will definitely want to pick this up. Please be away that this unrated version is not suitable for children of any age. I was actually rather disappointed by this transfer considering it was released onto Blu-ray in March. Colors are well saturated, but the contrast seems to be overdone at times. Flesh tones also seem to be slightly on the pale side. To make matters worse there appears to be some DNR applied since some of the actors' faces look rather waxy and background grain is rather minimal. Don't get me wrong, this transfer from Universal still looks good, but it simply falls short of most new comedies on Blu-ray. We are given a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track that just seems to be weak overall. Dialogue is clear most of the time, but at times it can sound kind of muffled. Surrounds get some work with the music, but that's really about it as they are rarely used for discrete effects. Other than during the last 20 minutes your sub doesn't get hardly any work either. Again, like the video it is decent, but it's nothing that's fantastic. We get a fairly average supplemental package with this Blu-ray release: Director's Audio Commentary Deleted Scenes: 49 minutes @ 1080 (Yes, you read that right and most are hilarious.) Bloopers: 3 minutes @ 1080 On the Set of Role Models: 7 minutes @ 1080 Game On: Creating a Role Playing World: 9 minutes @ 1080 In Character and Off Script: 8 minutes @ 1080 Movie: 7.5/10 VQ: 7.5/10 AQ: 8/10 Supplements: 6/10 Final word: A Purchase For Fans As always thanks for reading folks.
