My take: (the breakdown)

Ratatouille is certainly one of the many gems to come out of Pixar's studio. It grossed over 600 million dollars worldwide during it's theatrical run in 2007 causing it to become a classic almost instantly. The story follows a rat named Remy and his quest to pursue the art of becoming a chef. He has a well defined sense of smell, which aids him with spices and ingredients for different recipes. When he meets Linguini, a lowly garbage boy in Gusteau's restaurant, he quickly finds out how to do the cooking while making it appear that Linguini is actually doing the work. Of course there's some villains at work here in the form of a jealous chef and a snooty food critic so Linguini and Remy have their work cut out for them. It certainly is a wonderful story and I wholeheartedly recommend it for the entire family.

As with other Pixar movies that have been released on Blu-ray Ratatouille is perfect inside and out. Colors are vibrant and well saturated. Flesh tones are accurate. Grain is non-existent due to the digital-to-digital transfer and fine detail is absolutely fantastic. This is right up there with Cars and Wall-E.

The 5.1 Linear PCM track is just as impressive as the video. Dialogue is clear and understandable for the entire run time. Surrounds get plenty of work especially during the busy kitchen sequences. Your sub will also see plenty of work during the more action filled scenes. This is definitely one of the best PCM tracks I have ever heard on Blu-ray.

We get an array of supplements including a couple short movies, several making of features, deleted scenes, and even some stuff for the kids. The best part is that most of it is in 1080.

Movie: 8.5/10
VQ: 10/10
AQ: 10/10
Supplements:8/10
Final word: A Must Own

As always thanks for reading folks.

Thumbs up

I picked this one up when it came out a couple of years ago.

Had the nephew over to watch it and when the lady started shooting with her shotgun, he was like "What The?!...............WOW!!".

He isn't use to surround sound and especially not a 12" subwoofer.

Yeah, it's definitely an agressive audio mix.
