My take: (the breakdown)

As you probably have guessed from looking at the title of this movie it is indeed a spin-off of the Get Smart movie released earlier in 2008. It centers on Bruce and Lloyd, who are apparently the smartest guys in the weapons/gadgets development division for CONTROL. When they create a blanket that makes the wearer invisible it turns out that a fictitious country called Maraguay wants the technology for themselves. When the invisibility blanket is stolen it is up to Bruce and Lloyd to get it back or they will get fired. Filled with silly cliches and the lack of charm that the feature Get Smart movie has I say this is worth a rental or purchase if you were a big fan of the Get Smart movie other wise avoid this one.

This Blu-ray transfer is riddled with problems from the start. Colors seem to be filled with artifacts and also suffer from poor saturation. Also, many of the characters look as if their flesh tones are slightly pale. At least grain is minimal consistent though. The major problem with this movie comes with fine detail and blacks. The detail is noticeably poor in some scenes while in it does shine in some others, but the poor scenes outnumber the good ones. Also, there are way too many unresolved blacks both in the lab where Bruce and Lloyd work and during outdoor night shots. It honestly looks like a DVD transfer that was thrown onto Blu-ray, which may have been the case.

We are supplied with a lossy 5.1 Dolby Digital track that is not horrible, but it doesn't come close to a decent lossless track. Dialogue is clear most of the time, but sometimes characters do a bit of mumbling that is hard to hear. Surrounds are used for several discrete effects, but they just don't have the clarity like they would have with a lossless mix. Finally, the sub seems to be subdued, but it does come alive a bit during a couple of the more intense scenes. Again, like the video this is barely above average.

We get three very brief making of featurettes totaling about 32 minutes and they are all presented in 480.

Movie: 6/10
VQ: 6/10
AQ: 6/10
Supplements: 1.5/10
Final word: A Purchase For Get Smart Fans

As always thanks for reading folks.
