What are you reviewing this movie as Goof?

Might as well review Braveheart as a comedy.

Sheesh.

Readers: If you're looking for robots fighting in high definition (which I presume you are if you take the time to watch this), it's a 10/10 across the board.

I guess Goof was comparing it to Citizen Kane.

I think this is a mindless summer flick like countless others and you have to go into it with that expectation. Would it have been better with more dialog for a younger audience that was also entertaining for adults like the Pixar movies? Yes IMO, but it clearly didn't have even the same amount of dialog of the first one for me.

Why didn't they consider the dialog and acting inportant for this movie? Maybe they just blew the big budget on CGI and expensive actors.

Transformers has been around for 25 years this is why I expected something more special than just another high octane summer flick.
It was all new to Michael Bay so he didn't understand that. Bad move on Hasbro's part (if that's who made the decision) for giving it to Bay, IMO.

All I am saying is that it could have at least been as good as the first one and it wasn't.

People hit this movie way to hard. I have a hard time understanding why. I guess if your not a big transformer fan your not going to like it. I grew up with transformers and I loved the movie. One of the best movies I have ever seen. I think people hit this movie to hard. Same with Michale Bay. Great director! Just my opinion.

I thought the movie to be entertaining the whole way through. I didnt think the acting was all that bad either. As far as the story line goes, there were a few things that were a little far fetched, but then again so are 30 ft robots turning into cars and blowing stuff up lol. But what I like to see in a sci fi movie, is bringing realism to surreal events. Spider man was bit by a radio active spider which altered his DNA, ok thats acceptable. Sams pile of dust turns into a solid peice of metal (matrix) because he almost died... eh... not so much. There were flaws in the story but who cares? Like someone else said, its 2 hours of robots blowing eachother up. Cant really let a bad story line distract you.

I bought the movie knowing it got bashed by critics and many film goers alike. It was worse than I expected. Yeah, the action scenes are a blast, but aside from that and Megan Fox in HD, I found the dialogue between most of the characters to be utterly painful to sit through.

I was disgusted by the fact that Bay choose to put so much potty humor into this movie (which really should be more of a kids movie). Dogs humping each other? A robot humping Megan Fox's leg? Robot ball sacks? Seriously, some of you guys found that entertaining? Yeah, I was not expecting the movie to be Raging Bull, but Bay should have layed back on the sexual humor (I don't mind a little in a PG-13 movie, but he layed it on way to thick IMHO). And he should have cut about 30-45 minuted from the film. It went way too long.

And Megan Fox cannot act. She looks good, but she is not going to be in the business very long based on her acting alone.

On the plus side the action scenes were a blast (especially the IMAX scenes) and the PQ/AQ was great for me as well (given Bay's direction style).

But yeah, I agree with Goofnut on this one. If you have not seen it and are on the fence whether to buy or rent, I would strongly recommend renting it first.

I disagree. Given a good script she can be pretty good. I once saw an episode of Three and half Men and was surprised how good she was. Good writing will always bring out good acting and vice-versa.

One of the biggest problem with this move (as HD Goofnut pointed out) is the length.

Default Bought the Movie

I purchased this movie (I own the first on HD DVD). I grew up around the transformers, did not expect citizen kane....Nor would I want to see that in this type of movie....This is RAW Sci Fi....Ubelievable 30 ft robots landing in prehistoric times fighting neanderthal man with the "primes"...As my wife put it can't be more Sci Fi campy then that...

Didn't buy this movie for an in depth story line, and didn't expect one because it's a sequel (most poeple would have seen the first so no reason to try and develop a story....and most directors don't). This was a non stop action blow-up fantasy fest.

Story 1/10
Action 10/10

Well, it's only 19% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is pathetic, so Goofnut's take is likely spot on. However the series obviously has a lot of fans though, and apparently you need to be a fan to appreciate this movie. Good for them.

Thumbs up

I found the movie entertaining and my subwoofers enjoyed it, but I can see where it might not have enough substance for some.

The rotten tomato guys and critics that slammed the movie, I don't think, took into account the fan base and interest of a 25 year old franchise.

The All Time Box Office for the U.S. has the movie making more than a lot of other movies, with deep emotion moving scripts, like "Meet the Fockers".

It has already made more than Spiderman 2 and 3, and is close to kicking the first one to the curb.

It is too early to tell whether or not she will become a good actress. Based on her acting alone, she wouldn't be in the business at all but I think she is exceptionally beautiful even by movie star standards and she will be given time to become an actress. If I had to bet, my bet is this woman will never be a good actress but there have been a number of attractive women that did become excellent actresses over time and they started out about the same.

As far as her performance in this film, I don't think any actress could have done anything much with that role.

A couple of the performances that I thought added to the movie were from John Turturro and Julie White (the Mom)
They delivered some good laughs and you were actually supposed to laugh at their characters. Not that awkward laugh I had for some characters.
