My take: (the breakdown)

Note: The only difference in this 2 disc version versus the 3 disc version is the absense of a digital copy, but considering the 2 disc is currently $19.99 on Amazon and the 3 disc is $29.99 it's not much of a decision to decide which one to purchase.

Pixar has of course made some unbelievable movies over the last 15 years or so, but to me Wall-E is one of the best. The story follows Wall-E, a lowly trash compactor who appears to live his life in an unused ship with a cockroach for a friend and roomate. The Earth has been ruined by an overabundance of trash and millions of Wall-E machines were produced to get under control. When Wall-E finds a plant and then discovers that a robot named Eve is looking for this plant matter to take back to the Axiom (a ship in space for humans) Wall-E figures it is best to follow Eve and help her. At the same Wall-E becomes emotionally attached to Eve and what follows is a heartwarming story of adventure, friendship, and sacrifice. This is a must own for every family and even worth a blind purchase.

Wall-E was released onto Blu-ray nearly a year ago and I have personally watched it three times now. The perfect video quality of this release never ceases to amaze me. Colors jump off the screen immersing the viewer into a wondorous three-dimensional environment. This was of course a digital-to-digital transfer so there's no film grain, noise, or any artifacts of any kind. This is the kind of transfer that all animated features should try to live up to in my opinion. Disney never fails to dazzle, even with Blu-ray.

We are supplied with a 6.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track even though the box is lmiscorrectly labeled as 5.1 (noticed this last night). Like the video I could find nothing wrong with this audio mix. Dialogue is crisp and clear and never hard to hear. The surrounds are used quite frequently. Your sub will also get plenty of work during the ship based scenes as rumbling is quite common during these scenes.

We get an absolutely loaded supplemental package with this Blu-ray release. There's too many things to list, but the entire second disc is totally dedicated to supplements. The best part is that every feature is presented in 1080.

Movie: 9/10
VQ: 10/10
AQ: 10/10
Supplements: 8/10
Final word: A Must Own

As always thanks for reading folks.

Thanks for the review. I was teetering on the edge of buying this and Monsters, Inc. at the Amazon UK BOGO and your review made me pull the trigger. $16 per title shipped, so I can't complain.

You're welcome Bruce and you got an awesome deal on those two. I chose to wait for the U.S. version of Monsters Inc. just so I could get the DVD as well in the box.

Thanks for another great review Goofnut.
Wall-E really shows some great all around talent with animation. From the barren polluted earth to the crisp clean futuristic spaceship and even to the cartoony human characters. It doesn't seem like just one style, which I think helps to keep this visually interesting throughout.

Leaving Disney's marketing/business strategies out of this Disney really knows what they are doing with blu-ray and I think they are at the forefront with this technology, quality of digital enternainment wise.
