Subtitles: Many languages

Hank Azaria as Abraham
Juno Temple as Eema
Olivia Wilde as Princess Inanna
Directed by Harold Ramis

My take: (the breakdown)

Why is it that Jack Black plays almost the same type of character in every movie he stars in? He always plays a guy who is an absolute idiot that somehow always manages to save the day. Anyway, the part that you could barely call a story follows Zed and Oh as they decide they don't want to be a part of of their tribe anymore. They run into several characters from biblical history including Cain, Abel, and Abraham on their trip to Sodom to save two girls. This movie tries to be a mixture of several movies that focus solely on getting laid, drunk, and acting a fool. If you want a movie like then by all means go out and buy this one or you just visit your local high school weekend drinking party.

This is exactly what I was expecting from a new release on Blu-ray. Colors are not too exciting as they are mostly grays, tans, and blacks, but they are properly saturated and vivid. Flesh tones also seem to be accurate as most of the people of the movie are naturally pasty white in color. Grain is barely visible at all so that was nice. I did notice a few instances of unresolved blacks in some of the darker scenes, but other than that I couldn't really complain about this transfer.

We are supplied with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track that adequately gets the job done, but the problem as with many other titles, is that there's just not much for your system to do. This movie is mainly dialogue, which is clearly understandable and never hard to hear. There's not much going on in the surrounds other than some shouting and maybe a few other small effects. Your sub will get a little work during some of the louder scenes, but doesn't see much overall.

There is quite a lot more stuff than you would expect in this supplemental package. We are given a decent commentary with Ramis, Black, Cera, several making of featurettes, some deleted scenes, and trailers for several movies including the feature film. The best part is that all off the above features are presented in 1080.

Movie: 5/10
VQ: 9/10
AQ: 8/10
Supplements: 6/10
Final word: A Rental At Best

As always thanks for reading folks.

As always, great review Goof. this movie was a disappointment to both the lass and meself. Granted it was a jack Blacker, whom really seems to be floundering. He was good in King Kong and Saving Silverman,,,great in School of Rock,,,but to go from Nacho Libre to this is an assault on his own talent. The movie had some humor, even laughed out loud a couple of times,,,,but all in all,,,me was expecting cavemen to be doing cavemen stuff. Instead we were treated to a cheap Mel Brooks type of knock off,,,that was to long and not to funny. A rental if you want,,,but would not buy until it hits the $10.00 BD section at walmart. Then me would think twixt.

Jack Black - "let me get this straight, you want to cut the tip of your penis off because you have to much cock?"

overall the story was very cliche but the acting from the cast was pretty great.
David Cross, Oliver Platt, and Hank Azaria couldnt have played there part better and if you are a fan of what Jack Black does then this movie won't disappoint.

I remember seeing the trailer when I went to go see Star Trek this past summer. It was hilarious. Unfortunately the same can't be said about the entire movie. Had some moments. But overall I agree a rental. I would even say wait for the cable broadcast.

The PQ for me was more like a very good upscaled DVD.

Great review. I agree with most, the movie was not very good.
