![]() Title: Ice Age: The Meltdown BD-25 Single-Layer Disc Video: 1080p/MPEG-2 Audio: 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio Aspect Ratio: 1:85:1 Subtitles: English and Spanish Run time: 91 minutes Studio: Fox Home Entertainment Rating: PG Player used for review: LG BH200 Cast/Crew Info: Ray Romano as the voice of Manfred John Leguizamo as the voice of Sid Dennis Leary as the voice of Diego Queen Latifah as the voice of Ellie Directed by Carlos Saldanha My take: (the breakdown) It wasn't until several months after Ice Age: The Meltdown (Ice Age 2) was released onto rental that I realized it existed. I totally missed it at the theater because there just wasn't the publicity that the first installment had. The story continues to the adventures and mishaps of Manny, Sid, and Diego. When they learn that the Ice Age is ending and most places will be flooded it up to them to get the rest of the herd to higher ground away from the impending flood. The side plot consists of Manny believing he is the last Mammoth left on the planet, but when he meets Ellie his view on a new family begins to change. I didn't feel that this sequel had the originality that the first Ice Age had, but it still is great for families and never fails to entertain. This is worth a purchase for Ice Age fans and a rental for everyone else. For an early MPEG-2 Blu-ray release I was extremely pleased by the picture quality of this release. Colors are bright, vivid, and properly saturated. Grain does not exist since this is of course a digital to digital transfer. I could not any anamolies other than some slight softness in the long/wide shots. Other than that this transfer is perfect. Again, I was as much impressed by the audio with this title as the first Ice Age. We get a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio just like last time that never fails to impress. Dialogue is always clear and understandable. The sub and surrounds see plenty of use when the action picks up, but again I felt it slightly overbearing as I did with the first movie. We get a much better supplemental package than the first movie as far as the amount of stuff goes. However, most of the package is stuff the kiddes. Other than the kid stuff we are given a nice trailer package and a great gallery. Movie: 7/10 VQ: 9.5/10 AQ: 9.5/10 Supplements: 6/10 Final word: A Purchase for Ice Age Fans As always thanks for reading folks.

My grandson and I love the Ice Age movies.
I think they're hilarious.

They are extremely funny. I saw an interview several years ago with Leguizamo when he was trying out different voices for Sid until he finally came across the lisp and that did it.
