Vizio as a monitor problem

I have a 32 inch vizio TV that I am trying to use as a monitor with a DVI-to-HDMI cable. For some reason my TVs native resolution (1280x720) will not display correctly. In fact the only resolution that will display correctly on this TV is 1024x768 which is far to large for my taste. I have a hunch there might be something the TV is doing to stretch the image in some way. I've asked on multiple computer tech support forums and no one has been able to figure it out.

Thanks for your help!

If you want help, anyone is going to have to know what type of video card you have and how it is set up (ATI catalyst or Nvidia control panel). Are you sure your Vizio is 1280x720. A lot of newer LCDs are 720p, but a resolution of 1360x768. Have you tried the overscan/underscan features of your video card? What screen size settings does the TV have?

The more info you give everyone, the better chance you have to solve the problem.
