Ok, I have an HD cable box, a toshiba Regza hd tv, and i just bought a panasonic DVD Home Theater sound system mod # SC-Pt670.
can someone please explain how to hook it all together. And what cable i need?
I would really appreciate it! its driving me nuts.

Go HDMI out from the PT670 to the TV.. That will handle the DVD play. Since the 670 has 1 optical input, I would run HDMI from the HD cable box and then optical out to the 670. That way you can listen to the TV speakers when you want and also SS when you want. So all you should need is 2 HDMI cables and 1 optical (Toslink) cable.
Do not pay BIG $$$ for HDMI cables. You can get quality $5 HDMI cables at places like www.monoprice.com..
ok, just so i have this straight.
i need to run an HDMI from the blu ray to the tv
then run HDMI from cable box to the tv
then run optical from cable box to the blu ray
thanks for the quick reply

Yep that should do it. But the SC-PT670 is not a blue ray player. It is just a DVD player built in..
ok great thank you!
yeah, lol don't know why i said blue ray.
Thanks again

Sort of the same situation. Primary issue is no sound from the receiver, only sound from TV speakers. Receiver acts as though it is not getting any signal from connected devices.
Do get audio from receiver when radio (FM) component is selected, would think this rules out speaker connection problem
Set up:
comcast Hd Box connected to TV (JVC-32EM20) via cable.
TV HDMI input to Receiver (Sony STR-DH500) HDMI output slot
BlueRayDVD (Sharp BD-HP20U) connected to receiver via HDMI (out)to BD HDMI (in) on receiver and Digital optical audio cable to BD input on receiver from digital out jack on DVD player.
Have verified settings on all components and all appears fine.
Would welcome any and all suggestions as I have tried connecting and re-connecting in every configuration (it seems) without success.
Video is fine just no sound from the receivers attached speakers.
One note: With everything hooked into the receiver I can turn off its power and it does not seem to affect the TV picture, BD picture or TV speaker sounds at all. Unusual???
Thanks, Doug
