Analog cable to HDMI? HELP!

New to the forum -I've searched for an easy answer and have'nt found one anywhere else on this forum, so here goes:

I just purchased a 32" Hitachi UT32X812 LCD television.

It only has two inputs - (1) HDMI and (1)RGB

I did not purchase the AV tuner box that Hitachi makes for the TV (AVCO8U), which provides additional inputs - did'nt know I needed it.

I have plain old analog cable television and want to hook it up to this television. I don't have a cable box or anything, just a standard coaxial cable (RF) that hooked directly into my old tube TV.

I'm looking for a cheap way to get my analog cable signal into this Hitachi LCD. I don't care about HD - I just want to be able to watch my analog cable TV on my new LCD!

The Hitachi AV Tuner box costs $300 - is there ANY cheaper alternative or workaround?

Thanks in advance for any answers!

You will need to upgrade to ditgal cable box from your Cable company. Then you will be able to connect it to the cable box.

My cable is from a small-town mom & pop company that does'nt offer digital cable.

Do I have any other options or workarounds?

Could I buy a used digital cable box on eBay and just use it as a pass-through to get from RF to HDMI?

If "mom&pop cable" don't offer a box that has HDMI output, then . . .

You may need to buy the Hitachi AV tuner box, or . . .

Shop for an inexpensive Receiver that has NTSC and ATSC tuner and HDMI output.

You "could" invest in a DVR. Since your cable doesn't provide HD there should be a number of solutions that offer HDMI output and analog tuner, and in fact they should be on close out since digital tuners are required. You can get one with a digital and analog tuner for $150ish. (http://www.us-appliance.com/dr570.html?productid=dr570&channelid=FROOG)

Go pick up a cheap VCR with a tuner.
Coax in to the VCR, use the tuner in the VCR and make sure it has an output that can adapted to either the HDMI or RGB
