RG6 Termination.. If it were you?

I am installing another Directv receiver in a room that is about a 70 to 80 ft RG6 cable run from the Multi-switch. If you were doing this would you (1) run the RG-6 cable from the multi-switch to the room and terminate it is a flush mounted Low voltage wall box with a pass thru connector wall plate installed then use another short RG6 cable to connect the receiver to the wall plate OR (2) go directly from the multi-switch thru nylon bushings in the wall or up thru the carpeted floor and directly to the Directv receiver? What is the accepted or correct way to do this without impacting performance? :helpme

If I was running it--I would Run (TWO) instead of one and put them in a box And then make jumper cables to the D* receiver.

I would also run (Two) Cat5 or Cat6 cables into the same box so you can use Mulit-room view over your local PC network (when released you'll be ready).

Either way will neither improve or degrade your install from the mulitiswitch. Running Two RG6 allows you to add another HDDVR later or Connect the second line to a SD receiver and use it to feed PIP to your TV.

I cannot run 2 cables as this is the last available output from the multi-switch (3 hdvdrs and 1 hd rcvr aleady on system).. good idea about the cat 5's though.. all other DVR's are connected to INET for DTV on demand so I will wire this one with cat 5's just in case .. thanks

But, to answer your question.

I would use the wall plate. It looks neater.

I cannot run 2 cables as this is the last available output from the multi-switch... That's really not a reason to not run 2 cables though. Might be a reason for getting a bigger multiswitch in the future though. I agree with while you are running cables to run the 2 RG6 and the cat5 or 6 even if they are not all going to be used.

Just run it out of the low voltage wall plate with no cover. Its not like its going to be seen. And if it is, then use a wall plate.

Run it out of the wall for the cheapest and best signal. Put a wall plate on it when you sell the house and take the TV down to show.
