I recently got a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo with dual 500GB mirrored drives and what to move my iTunes folder there and since safer. The ReadyNAS comes with iTunes server 7/Firefly and I looked at that, but apparently with simple default setup on the music list is available in networked iTunes clients/machines.
So I think just moving the iTunes folder to the NAS might be a better/simpler solution. I basically have one system that uses iTunes, but sometimes it would be nice for my laptop to have access to some of the content.
What I've done. I turned off the NAS iTunes server service. I created a folder on the NAS for iTunes (empty). I renamed my original iTunes folder for backup and changed the iTunes folder location in the preferences menu to the NAS. Then I used the Consolidate Library option. It copied about 49mb and stopped.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
