VGA = analog video only, HDMI = digital video with audio

Use the HDMI if you computer supports it.

VGA tends to not be supported very well on HDTVs. There are some exceptions but for the most part 1080P is limited to the HDMI inputs.

The DV9000 supports audio over HDMI, so long as you have current drivers. See here (http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.do?threadId=1113121&admit=109447626+1249073151629+28353475). VGA doesn't have audio along the cable.

You may also have the option for component with a special cable, or the quickdoc. Component might be a good choice if were're talking a longer than 35ft run between the notebook and PC. Same would hold true for VGA "IF" the TV supported HD wide screen resolutions. Odds are it doesn't.
