"What M-1 meant by the UFC's"very generous offer"....

So we all know the deal with M-1 and what they are saying about co-promotion. I'm not here to say who's right and wrong in this deal, but I can tell you some of the specifics that were offered to Fedor.....

- The UFC offered Fedor a 6 fight, 30 million dollar contract. That's 5 mil a fight

- The UFC offered Fedor an immediate title shot

- Lesnar/Fedor would be the biggest PPV in MMA history (we assume), and the UFC offered M-1 Global a cut of the PPV on top of Fedor's purse.

- Fedor was free to wear as many M-1 logoed items as he wished.

- The UFC also relented on allowing Fedor to compete in combat sambo."

what i read on sherdog

pretty interesting, seems like quite a bit of compromise on the UFC's part, and a very generous monetary offer

Dayum. This comes after him signing with EA as the cover fighter for their MMA game, so you can add that to the number of concessions made in the proposed contract.

Why can't they get this guy?

Emelianenko has been universally considered the best heavyweight fighter in the world for the last six years by major publications, including ESPN, Sherdog, Full Contact Fighter, MMA Weekly, and Nokaut.[4] Several mixed martial arts publications currently rank Emelianenko as the #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world.[5][6] He holds the distinction of having held five separate major championships including the Rings World Heavyweight and King of Kings Championships, the Pride World Heavyweight and Heavyweight Grand Prix Championships and the World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts Heavyweight Championship. Many analysts, as well as former and current fighters consider Emelianenko to be the greatest mixed martial artist of all time.[7][8]

Thanks for that post! :yippee: :yippee:

Man, I sure would like to hear from Fedor himself as to why he won't sign... I know he doesn't care about fame or the "importance" of the UFC, but really, why NOT sign, especially for a deal like that?

Anyway, I would LOVE to see him fight Lesner! Someone in this forum actually said they didn't think Fedor is a "skilled fighter"!!! :haha:

Hey Kam, doesn't that Fedor clip you posted give you some of those same kind of early "Tyson" chills when you watch it?!?

Thanks again for the info!

Considering I'm 100% Russian and still think the Pride FC days were the best in MMA.....

Fighting is like Baseball in Russia. Boxing, sambo, whatever. Any one on one contact sport. Tyson is a god over there, Fedor would be number 2, and you'd be surprised by the amount of Klitschko hate.

But Fedor's management.....not exactly a savory organization.

Also, he's still the consensus best pound for pound MMA fighter today. UFC needs to do anything possible to get him.

A lot of opinion labeled as news comes out of UFC sources that tries to downplay the importance of having him.

But I can't fault them for not trying hard.

Reportedly M-1 wants a 10% stake in the UFC brand for Fedor. For the heavyweight champ, it's a price you need to pay IMO. Especially right now when UFC has the best chance at really taking off.

Fedor is scared. He knows he will lose in the UFC, and BAM...there goes everything for him.

I can speculate, Fedor and M-1 want a bigger piece of the action and profits than UFC and Lesnar gets, after all, Fedor is the best and most respected martial artist ever. He is extremely skilled and beats big fighters like Lesnar and he is too big for anybody smaller and quicker to deal with. I don't believe Lesnar is any challenge for Fedor yet but I thought that Josh Barnett would have been a good fight.

I didn't know that. Tyson needs to come out of retirement and fight either Klitschko. Of course both would pound him now and I think either could have beaten him during his prime, just as Lennox Lewis could have. He is just too short to deal with fighters so big, strong, and skilled as those three are. The Klitschko brothers are really good in my opinion. The only poor Vitali outing was the fight he had in the bag against Byrd but quit when he hurt his shoulder without ever being hit with a solid punch. He was way ahead, I watched that fight. The younger Klitschko has had a few bad outings years ago but beaten everybody the last few years easily, including some good fighters.

...that's sarcasm, right? ;)

I think so. But I also have a hunch that Fedor is dodging the best competition to make sure his stock continues to rise and he can continue to cash in.

I will be honest, I haven't seen Fedor fight with the exception of the highlight of him knocking out Arlovski, so I don't really know too much about his fighting skills other than what I read.

Did you watch the highlight vid on the OP? I know it's just highlights, but he's fought some pretty tough guys, and BIG guys too, & he's beaten the crap out of them &/or submitted them~ I'm not saying he's unbeatable, but I think it would be one hell of a fight to see if he DOES get beaten!

Of course, I said that about Uriah Faber too... :haha: Never thought I would see him beaten, then along comes Brown~ :what:

But even as good as Faber was/is, I still believe that Fedor is the man right now until I see otherwise~

Fedor has never lost an MMA fight, and in the 2007 Global Sambo Tournament, his semifinalist opponent and final opponent both refused to fight him.

They just straight up threw in the towel.

There's a YouTube video with Wanderlei Silva talking about Fedor. I generally consider Wanderlei a pretty insane guy who'd probably fight a polar bear given the chance. He said flat out he'd never fight Fedor again.

SOBAY, no offense, but I think you're getting too much of your MMA news through UFC filtered channels.

Like GW said, just watch the video in the OP and check out his Wiki page. I would bet my house that he would make Lesnar tap in the first round.

Also, I've never seen a fighter pull as hard on his subs as Fedor. It's like he's really trying to break the joint. Fighters are scared of him.

Edit: I gotta find the youtube video where the guy punches him and Fedor actually bitch slaps him after laughing off the punch. Good stuff. Never seen a bitch slap in a MMA fight before that.

If I'm not mistaken, I thought I saw Bas Ruten smak the crap out of a couple of guys with open hands~ Pretty impressive stuff~ I think it was pretty old though~
