From the LATimes.com website this morning:

The longtime voice for the franchise says he'll probably work one season, giving the Dodgers 15 months to send him off the right way.

Man, it's just not going to be the same when he's gone... :huh :crying:

I've been dreading his retirement for a very long time. It'll be hard to fight back those tears, I'll tell you that much.

I remember when Chicky died, that was a rough one. Hopefully Vinny can have continued good health, and ride off into the sunset gracefully.

Amen to that!! :yippee:

Yeah, I was reading that story, and when I read about the little video tribute, I teared up a bit, and i haven't even SEEN it!

Vinny is truly a NATIONAL TREASURE, moreso I believe than just about any other anouncer IMO. :2cents

He's kinda like America's Grandpa, isn't he?!?

I would sure like to meet him, and to get to shake his hand and thank him before he retires~ My wife has met him before, as she has lived here all her life, and grew up OBSESSED with the Dodgers... I will have to make an effort to try to get to meet him this year~ If nothing else, maybe I can get someone to just pass him a note of thanks...

I was blessed to have the opportunity to meet him breifly a few years back. I will post the picture tonight for you. I was actually in his press box. A guy who I did video editing for is friends with the producer of the Dodger games. I got to go into the truck where to produce the broadcast, and then what a treat to walk in and shake hands with Vin Scully.

I never have any connections with anybody, so to have that happen that day is still amazing to me.

Hey, did you hear the Lakers are going to play a game at the Forum this year? It's going to be a preseason game on October 6th I belive. That will bring back some good memories. :)
