No, im the only one who uses VNC because the server is at my house. Thats the only way to control it because I dont have a keyboard or mouse for it.

retorq

Still VNC over the internet is stupid, it's unencrypted. Use SSH if it's a *nix box or remote desktop connection if it's a Windows box. You should have setup your firewall to drop packets from any IP to that port except for the IP you normally connect from. If I were you I'ld not put it back up until you have some sort of clue as to how to run a server securley or it will be taken down again. Next time they might lock you out of your own box!!

Right now im installing PLESK FOR WINDOWS SERVER 2003 v7.5.3. Hopefully that is more secure then the other software we where using.

Good luck getting HDClips back online Ryan. Hope the new software means it can't be hacked again :(

HDclips.net is mainly trailers, short clips and other stuff recorded off TV ... surely the FBI wouldn't be too concerned with that.

Hi Ryan,
I tried to log on, But no go.
It now pops up a log on window.

Is the site up and running?
If so, do we need to re-register?

I am looking forward to seeing if I can help out with some hardware for the server.

Cheers
Steve

Im still working on why that pop up window comes up. Anyone have an idea why its coming up? No it wasnt the FBI, I know who it was they where made at me because I baned them.

They delete the US flag, so i guess the hackers don't like the US. From the ftp log, it looks as if they uploaded some type of irc bot, and the log-in name they created for the ftp had some weird symbols on top of the alphabet. Also in the log was "kelkasoft"...

With a note saying the Site is No More.

Please don't say this is true????

i highly doubt this is true. they probably "turned off" the site to better optimize it and prevent it from further attacks as they fix the problem. wait until the site is back up or pm Gollum or Ryan on this site.
By the way, did you really retire at 29? why/how?

HK-Steve
07-14-2005, 10:54 AM
Yes, I did retire.
I worked for 13 years as a High Voltage Electical Engineer,
Working and Training Co-Workers in the Supply, Operation of Equipment and Safety Procedures, and Distribution of High Voltage, also Emergency Backup 3 Phase 415volt UPS Systems and Installation, Plus Emergency Diesel 3 Phase Generators.

But I retired to become a House Dad.
My Wifes job took us from Australia, to Hong Kong for 2 1/2 years.
She got another promotion and we relocated to Switzerland, which we have been here for over 2 years now.
We have one Son, and another Son due in September.

I am looking forward to HDClips to get back online.

Cheers
Steve

It was the MPAA in cahoots with the RIAA. They don't want you watching the trailers without buying a $5 bucket of greasy popcorn and a $3 cup of flat soda.

One would "assume" its okay. But don't forget little acronyms such as HDCP and HDMI -

Wether it was aired or not CBS, NBC, ABS, Fox, etc, own the broadcast rights, not Ryan48, sonicularulus or anyone else.

i didnt mean to say that we own the broadcast rights. whats the point of us having the broadcast rights when we do not have the technology to broadcast the media. However, we do have the technology to share it with others. once aired, especially on local tv, we should, not we do, have the rights to share. that is just my opinion, but it only goes for local tv shows like family guy and the simpsons and early movie previews and king kong. but, i am sure many of you disagree with me, but to let you know, i do not support piracy or tivo. so when i miss a show, i hope to just download it off the internet. i dont think we should be paying to record a tv show that aired on free television, just because we happend to be doing something more important that watching tv. that is my opinion.

Hehehe... I had an old National brand (now Panasonic) VCR which kept going for 24 years. The only thing VCRs are good for now are for recording motion-sensor CCTV cameras.

FTA TV is free because of advertising. Maybe uploads of TV shows that have the ads not cut out would make them less worried about sharing? But really, unless it's from something the public have to pay for, what's the real problem with "extra broadcasting" of a TV station's FTA content so that it reaches more people? What about VCRs? I can record a TV show, then lend the tape to all my friends...

There's just too much red tape with all this sharing FTA programs crap.

good thing about sharing online: we provide the makers with a back up copy in case the original is lost/damange :)

Somehow I don't think that's a selling point to them.

What makes you all think it will be back?? If it does come back he'ld be smart to not advertiseit everywhere and lessen the chance of his system getting hacked again.

Well Ryan had the site up again awhile ago, but the same people hacked it again, and delted all the files, and put some "words" on the screen... :(
So we lost all the phps, but I still have a copy of the database and some phps, so i could prob rebuild it...
If anyone can help with security, please pm me.

If you're going to run a site that deals in hacking, warez or other illegal content you NEED to know how to secure a website before you even think about putting it online. Think about the irony, here you are running this 'how to hack' website and you can't protect your own sh*t, it makes me chuckle. :D

Any half decent hosting account will have enough security to keep the script kiddies out. After that you choose some software with a solid track record to do what you want (forums, gallery, blog, etc) and your job is more than half done. The last step is to make sure you and to a lesser extent your users aren't using easily guessed passwords. After that you keep an eye on the security sites for exploits in the software you use, keep it up to date, scan the logs regularly and it will pretty much run itself.

Don't even try to lump yourself in with the rest of the non pirating high deffers here. You are in your own group, a television/movie pirating group. Yes, there are anti-pirating groups out there.

If you are going to run a site and offer questionsable material, illegal material or material you know is going to be illegal, then you need to know how to run it right. You kids don't so I'ld give it up.

look, just because we are on a site that offers it, that doesnt mean that we are pirating...
there is a difference between being just a member and being an active member are two different things...i just went there to get high definition trailers of movies that could easily be obtained from an official site. i find no difference. i just watch it once, then delete it off my computer.
i was given moderator privalages on that site, so i just basically was a member just to help moderate the forums and member's stats. that was all.
but anyways, the site is now down and we cant do anything about it now.
anyways, lets just leave this thread, ask cass to close it, and just leave any questions about hdclips.no-ip.org as a private message to gollum or ryan48. if this is okay with all of you, i say just to PM cass and request this thread to be closed with a proper reason why and lets call it a day.
